A reception and office area provide an ideal space for welcoming guests, while a fully equipped kitchen is designed for professional meal preparation. There is a cozy lounge with fireplace and a dining area.
There is a large undercover patio next to the pool, perfect for breakfasts and lunches. A bar and entertainment area, complete with a pool
table, adds to the recreational options. There is a lookout deck overlooking the waterhole, the ideal setting for sundowner drinks and game viewing, while the boma firepit offers a magical atmosphere to enjoy African nights under the stars. The entire lodge area is fenced with an electric fence for added safety, and paved walkways ensure secure movement around the property.
There is a state-of-the-art solar system providing reliable backup power and a borehole with 10,000-litre Jojo tanks ensuring consistent water supply. There is also a water purification system. A high-tech security camera system ensures guest safety at all times. Grietjie Private Nature Reserve is located in the northern section of the Balule Nature Reserve, 30 kms south of Phalaborwa, Limpopo Province.
The reserve encompasses some 2 800ha including 6km of impressive river frontage on the perennial Olifants River. With the removal of the Kruger National Park boundary fence and subsequent influx of wildlife into the area, Grietjie has become one of the few Big 5 reserves that offer full
title 10ha to 25ha properties. Balule Nature Reserve, and therefore Grietjie by incorporation, is within the Greater Kruger National Park and the UNESCO proclaimed Kruger to Canyons Biosphere Reserve. This biosphere reserve is the largest of its kind in the world.
The reserve encompasses some stunning landscapes with bergs and rocky outcrops to plains and riverine bush. The varied habitat supports a healthy diversity of wildlife and an impressive birding list of over 280 species sighted, including the rare Pels Fishing Owl. Big 5 species are encountered frequently on the reserve, but it is a special honour to be privy to the secret lives of the lesser known species.
